Sabena In Miami

Sun Feb 25, 2001 2:25 am

SN have a great code-sharing agrrement with AA just like SR

They code-share on BRU-NYC ( twice daily )
-BOS ( one daily )
-ORD ( twice daily )
-IAD ( one daily )
-DFW ( one daily )

But when SN will fly to the hub of Miami like SR if SN go to Dallas it's time to go to Miami !

Is somebody have information about that?

Sabana announced last year that they would fly to MIA. They even opened the flights for bookings and was mentioned in the timetable. However, the flight never materialised. Some rumours are that SR didn't like SN to fly to MIA. I hope they eventually start this service (the fares were very attractive).

Sabena is in financial trouble, so I don't see why they should start extra services.

I think they would rather quit services like DFW (unless that one is pretty profitable).

Second of all, I think the charters in BRU are already flying into Miami from BRU (City Bird or Sobelair).

Sabena and Swissair determine their routes together, in the Airline Management Company. If Swissair hasnot got enough passangers on board its flight to Miami, it will not allow Sabena to fly to Miami. You have to see it as one carrier, though with two airports. If Lufthansa's first flight to a certain airport is not completely booked all the time and if they do not see the possibility to fill a second flight, they will not start a second flight to that destination. The same for SR and SN to Miami. question is, why does SR gets the flight for the group and not SN? SN really is the small brother in the game and has nothing to say.

I agree with Sndp AMP is one airline and I understand the situation but AA can open the route and use it's own aircraft just like for Dallas -Zurich code-sharing with SR but a AA plane.

In this case the power of AMP is stronger than the power of AA or AA can open the route without a Zurich veto?

ps : Citybird and Sobelair stopped to fly to Miami sometimes ago.
