Royal Airlines 737 Fleet Plans

Sun Feb 25, 2001 5:50 am

Hello all,
I have recieved a report from a good, reliable source who says Royal is getting rid of all their 737-200's, and replacing them with 737-300's from Lufthansa. The first of 7 planes arrives in May and they will be quickly replaced after that. C-FNAP and C-FNAQ may go back to purely cargo operations. The Royal Cargo 737-200's will stay around but no more passenger 737-200's flying for Royal. I find this news is quite interesting, especially in the wake of the C3 buyout, which to my knowledge hasn't been approved yet, but most likely will be. I would assume these 737-300's won't last too long in the Royal c/s and could possibly even be flown in a basic Lufthansa scheme, which isn't a drastic difference to the Royal c/s like the old US Air colours are. But it's also good to see more Boeing's in Canada, Airbus is making Toronto such a monotoneous airport (Toulouse - West/Ouest).

Think before you type!

Isn't that quite a jump in capacity? I don't know what the seat pitch is like on Royal, but I'm guessing they can squeeze in another 20 or 30 in 733.

It only makes sense if C3 has designs on acquiring a whole bunch more for expanded domestic and transborder services. And that was what they intended the A319 for. You're right watewate, B737-300 is larger...but I am assuming these aircraft will have a business class.

I'm not entirely sure there is such a thing as "good, reliable" information available with regards fleet and/or route structure during a takeover such as may happen by Canada 3000 of Royal.

Royal shareholders are just now in the position of receiving their copies of the takeover bid and voting information where appropriate. The competition bureau, to the best of my knowledge (and that's not saying too much in this area) has yet to rule.

Everything is on the table with this New Deal. So "sure things" such as equipment & bases at this stage in the game are, in my opinion, pure speculation.

Best Regards,

I hope this is true about the 733, because that would be a nice plane to see. I wonder if they'll be in Royal's colours, or in C3's nasty shades.

These planes will of course have the Royal Class, because Royal had them on all planes, as far as I know. The increased capacity is fine, considering these newer 737's are more efficient, so they'll get more bang for the buck.

Well, here is the lates information I could get
- There will be 7 new planes comming all will be 737-300's. For a while they will contract some pilots until they can train enough of their own. The first plane comes on line May first as long as all of the Transport paper work is finished up.ROYAL will also keep the advanced 737's i.e. the USair planes but the basics are going (NAP/NAQ) Eventually all the -200's will be replaced but not till C3 starts getting the A319's. These planes will probably come in a new colour scheme.from what I understand C3 is looking to re-brand it self.these planes may be in C3, ROYAL, or a New Scheme, but nothing is confirmed as yet. Will keep you guys posted.  Smile

Please keep the C3/Royal news comming. I find it very interesting to follow this merger. It seems like it will be one to remember if it goes through. I have some friends who are in the middle of it and I hope that their jobs are ok with the merger.

So again, Please keep the updates coming regarding Canada's second biggest airline, and maybe North America's best!!!
