Skyway Shorts 360?

Sun Feb 25, 2001 8:02 am

I saw a SD-360 in former AA Eagle livery with a SKYWAY sticker on the tail parked at the Genral Aviation ramp at Hartsfield the other day. The Irish Concorde was resplendent in the twilight of a warm Georgia afternoon (I wax poetic.) Anyway, I don't think that they are connected to the Skyway of Midwest Express lineage, so is there a training school or cargo outfit that goes by the same name?

Yes. The Midwest Express feeder actually goes by the name Skyways. Skyway is a freight operator with 330s & 360s on contract to DHL and others.
My definition of cool ? Not trying so hard to be cool.

That aircraft is from Air Cargo Carriers. Their hangar is next to Skyway's up in MKE. That Skyway sticker was probably put on there as a late night joke by a night crew that was feeling pretty ornery.

There is another Skyway out of Kissimee Florida that flies the shorts. Falcon is correct.

The 360 is the "box" that the Metroliner came in.

I recall seeing a picture of a SD360 in FedEx colors in an Airliner mag about a year ago. It was a former CCAir, which is a USAirways Express operator in CLT. Have you folks seen any of those still floating around. Also, I remember that the Shorts was very temperamental as far as cargo loading for weight and balance. Is this a decent freighter or something that prices itself into the market?
