BD Starting CPH-EWR On A332s?

Tue Feb 27, 2001 12:16 pm

Hi everyone,
I saw on the Galileo booking system while at work that from May 12th Scandinavian Airlines and British Midland is starting CPH-EWR on A330-200s operated by BD!!! And the system only shows the SK flight number (SK902) and I cannot find it on BD flight numbers.
I've also checked SK's website about the flight and the flight is there!! But there's nothing on BD's website...

Can anyone tell me what happened to this flight?? As I'm currently getting a headache over it!!!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Thanks a lot!!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Sure it is a Leased plane? Doesn't SK have the 330/340 family on order to replace the 763? Thought I saw where Aibus won SK's widebody fleet and Boeing got the single aisles with the 737NG's???
You mad Bro???

According to, SAS will lease an A330-200 from its Star Alliance partner British Midland. It will be painted in the Star Alliance livery, and operate flights to EWR as from 12 May 2001

The first Airbus 330/340 will be delivered in mid-2001.

BD's first A330 will go strait into service with SAS after delivery soon.
The flights it operates will have nothing to do with BD, other than the a/c is being leased from them.
The lease is said to last for a year.

But I can remember someone writing (on this forum) that althought the A330 was origonally going to fly CPH-EWR, it will now be used for flights to Asia and a B763 will be used on the CPH-EWR service.

Originally this A332 leased from BD was going to open up the new CPH-IAD route, but the gate that SAS wanted to use at IAD could not fit the 332 during the rush hour, so they settled on using a regular SK 763 on the IAD route, and giving EWR the Star Alliance-painted A332.
