Earthquake At SEA

6.2 quake at Seattle at approx 1855UTC...

ATCSCC ADVZY 043 SEA/BFI/ZSE 02/28/01 SEA/BFI GROUND STOP
DESTINATION AIRPORTS: SEA/BFI
FACILITIES INCLUDED: ALL
EXPECT UPDATE: 2100Z
REASON: EARTHQUAKE, SEA APPROACH/SEA/BFI TOWER PERSONNEL HAVE EVACUATED
REMARKS: ATCSCC WILL UPDATE AS MORE INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE

Lots of diversions ensuing, to GEG, PDX, BOI, SLC, and just about everywhere else you can think of...

Let's hope that area residents are well...

SEA Update...

Now reportedly a 7.0.....

ATCSCC ADVZY 044 SEA/ZSE EARTHQUAKE AFFECTING SEA
DUE TO EARTHQUAKE AT SEA, THERE ARE NO OPERATIONS AT SEA. NO DEPARTURES, NO ARRIVALS. THE SEA TOWER HAS BEEN EVACUATED AS WELL AS BFI AND RNT TOWERS. SEA TRACON IS IN THE PROCESS OF RELOCATING TO
SEA CENTER. SEATTLE ARTCC HAS ASSUMED RESPONSIBLITY FOR SEATAC AIRSPACE. THERE IS NO ESTIMATE AT THIS TIME AS TO WHEN OPERATIONS
WILL RESUME. ATCSCC WILL UPDATE AS INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE.

Both runways at SEA now notam'd closed as well as approach control. Temp freqs for anyone out there with scanners...

I'm watching the feed from KING on MSNBC...and apparently the glass has all blown out of the control tower cab at Sea-Tac. The FAA is making available a portable tower (in a trailer) and Sea-Tac expects to be open after 24 hours.
