Here it is, OH-LXA at Toulouse! I'm looking forward to seeing it here at HEL...

Does anybody know when it will be delivered to Finnair and start flying scheduled flights?

Beautiful!

The new c/s looks better on smaller aircrafts, such as the A320.
That doesn't mean it looks bad on the MD11's  Big thumbs up

Hey The Ticketor!!!

Long time no see...

You wouldn't be able to know what MD-11 plane would be operating the JFK-HEL leg on 14JUN would you? I should be on that plane... and being on my namesake is always a treat  Smile

Thanks the ticketor,

Got that marvellous beauty on film, too bad the light wasn't as good as a few days before.

Does anyone know when Finnair flies into Bangor, ME? I might have to go up there and see one of the 757s in the new colors.

DeltAirlines: It used to be Tuesdays... but I'm not finding destination info for it... it might have been discontinued... they will operates 757's into YYZ this summer from June 12 3x weekly though...

DeltAirlines: I have understood that Finnair won't paint their 757's in the new livery at all.

I'm not sure why but perhaps they are planning to take these planes off their fleet after the lease period expires in a couple of years...

they are not painting their 757´s in new livery since they are operated only on leisure routes and make up the backbone of the finnair charter fleet. I guess AY wants to keep them separate from its new image or something..

Jetboy: Thanks for your information, it sounds logical.

I'm still wondering what will the future charter fleet plans for AY be, as they are going towards all-Airbus fleet. Maybe keep these 757's but operate them under other name like they did with A300's (Karair)?

The livery in B757s is simply the Finnair Charter Livery and the B757s won't be painted into the new livery.

finnair is buying 2 more 757´s for its charter fleet, releasing the charter configured MD11 to scheduled service, so it seems like Finnair is going for a all 757 charter fleet. At the moment they are also dividing the crew to 757 based(charter)and MD11 based crew...

cheers jetboy

dont think they want to create a new Karair, since it is more logical to keep all operations under just one "Finnair" name.

Where did you get this info about the additional two 757s? I've only heard about a single one to be leased from Condor, but that's only supposed to be for a short period of time; maybe for the next summer season.

I'm sure this dividing the cockpit crew up to scheduled and charters is going to cause some foul language from the union types; remember what happened with former KarAir crew...

i heard it from a a intra company newsletter i happened to see...  Smile

well im sure the crew wont be happy, but...well atleast they get to state their own preference 8atleast the senior ones..and i think he dividing only appleis to pursers, not entire cabin crew, but not sure..)

Jetboy is correct. At the end of this year, AY will lease two B757´s to make up for the MD11 going back to scheduled traffic. I don´t know from where though...
