Yahoo Airlines/Aviation news has a story that 15 outbound and 24 outbound flights scheduled for
Thursday morning have been cancelled due to
what AA calls an "illegal" work action. Presumably
the two AA daylight flights to Heathrow are among
those to be cancelled (AA 142 and AA 106) which
depart at 8:30 and 9:30 as well as the morning
bank of flights to SFO and LAX and Caribbean
destinations.

I believe the flight attendents union has approved a strike, this may be a preventative action on American's part to ease further delays.

Better make your reservations on CO!

here's the press release:

NEW YORK, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines has cancelled all flights Thursday morning to and from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK due to an illegal work slowdown by some of its aircraft mechanics. For Thursday morning, the airline has cancelled 39 JFK flights -- 15 inbound and 24 departures -- because of uncertainty about the duration of the activity. The Thursday afternoon flight schedule is still in place as of late Wednesday evening.
The airline is contacting customers who have reservations on Thursday's cancelled flights to reaccommodate them on American or other carriers.
American did a similar communications outreach to as many impacted customers as possible for Wednesday's cancelled flights.
On Wednesday, American cancelled 90 JFK flights -- 48 inbound and 42 departures -- due to the illegal work slowdown.
People with travel plans on American Airlines through JFK on Thursday
afternoon are encouraged to check their flight status online at http://www.aa.com or toll free via Dial-AA-Flight at 1-800-223-5436, selecting option 1.

Peace,
