Danger At Heathrow.

Fri Mar 02, 2001 6:52 pm

A few weeks ago I saw a program about Heathrow.
it was about the crowded airspace around Heathrow.

it was claimed that inbound aircraft receive landing clearance when its already to late to abort the landing.

is this true ?
and is this also the case at other airports ?

Yeah, someone told me about that too.
The planes get clearance when halfway on final...

Heathrow is no worse than any other major International airport, if you want late clearances then you need to go to Gatwick. They have some very late landing clearances due to the single runway operations.

Paris CDG uses the same procedures. You can be cleared to land and still be n°3 in the approach.
