Sat Mar 03, 2001 9:42 am

Hello, I just got a job at MidAmerica Airport and it is awesome. I load and unload bags on the Pan Am planes. Pan am is doing very well from what I see. The planes are almost competely full. If anyone wants any info I am the man to ask.

Shouldn't you be PanAm_Agent then ?  Wink/being sarcastic

Do you work for the airport, a service company or Pan Am? What else flies there other than the PA 727's?

I think Pan Am are the only scheduled airline at Mid America using jets. The rest of it is puddle jumping commuters, FedEx and the likes of Sun Country.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

MidAmerica is an airport built to share the runways of Scott Air Force Base in Southern Illinois. For about three years, no one has used the terminal at all, no airline traffic. That is until PanAm started service there.

Actually a new runway was built east of the AFB, where the terminal was built. Basically the airport is split in two, Scott AFB with its one runway one side, and MidAmerica with it's runway on another. They are separated by a wetlands area and both runways/sides are connected by a 7,000-ft. taxiway. Both runways can be used by either military or civil traffic as it is a "joint-use" airport. Right now, the only commercial traffic is Pan Am and the airport gets military flights from USAF cargo jets and ILANG KC-135 tankers. I'm wondering if there is any other traffic (such as charters or bizjets) at BLV.

Kona: I got all this from the paper I had to write for AVM-370 Airport Planning for Dr. NewMyer. It's a cool class, if you don't mind having a Saturday class... Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Interesting place to work at (in theory i guess)! Is there much room for expansion at BLV (i'm assuming this is for Belleville, Illinois)? Isn't Jimmy Connors from there? The tennis player?

Hello everyone. sorry I didn't write back sooner. Let me start off. There is the occasioanal medivac flight that comes into Midamerica with a Learjet but other than that the 2 pan am flights a day during the week and 1 flight a day on weekends is all the action we see. Pan Am i bringing a jetstream in tonight to run down to branson to take a look at the airport. Pan am is planning on having commuter flights from MidAmerica with Jetstreams going to Branson, MO and Detroit, MI. The small general aviation part (cessna's pipers etc.) is pretty much obsolete b/c they have to park at the "cargo ramp" b/c since we serve an airline we have to keep those planes out of a secure area. Pilots hate having to do that so they just go somewhere else. As for other airlines, Ozark which was recently started up, looked into coming to the airport using their Dornier 328 Jets. They even brought one in and showed it to us. It had 8 hrs total time on it when they flew it from the factory to Springfield, MO (home base) then to MidAmerica. As for where I work, I work for Airport Terminal Services whice provides everything for MidAmerica. The name TWA_agent is b/c I have grown up with TWA my whole life since my mom works in the corporate offices in STL. any other ?'s please ask. BTW...I am going to SIUC next year.

I saw an article on the St Louis Midamerica airport in Airways magazine a couple of months ago and it looked like a really nice terminal. I am Surprised no other airlines have started service there.
