Aer Lingus' US Routes

Mon Mar 05, 2001 3:21 pm

Hello all

Does anyone have any idea what Aer Lingus' next US destination will be? Philadelphia is ideal, with the new international terminal opening next year, but EI already flies from JFK and BWI, so it's not likely.

Thanks  Smile

Why would IAD be likely, if they have already established a service to BWI?

There has been talk about Miami in the local Miami newspapers. Miami is a OneWorld hub and Aer Lingus is a OneWorld carrier.

Do they already fly to SFO? I've heard the LAX service has been very successful, and a second west coast destination would probably be good as well. Perhaps SJC would be a viable candidate (with the AA presence).

I had heard rumors of EI coming to SFO... with the new IT and all, but nothing solid... American does have a bit of a mini-hub running at SFO, but the flights out of there are mostly to Los Angeles and transcons to Chicago, New York, and Miami. British Airways also flies here, and so does CX. It's possible... EI could probably add another West Coast destination.

Miami would be a good choice, starting with 2/3 flight's per week to build up demand.

AA has a large network at MIA which would be usefull to feed traffic, both domestic and international.

Why does Aer LIngus serve BWI, instead of IAD?

I think you could pencil in DFW because of AA being hqtrd there, and the only other Mid west destination Aer Lingus serves is ORD. Not only that, but Houston and Dallas have a sizable Irish population, but to help out ORD, DFW could be considered.
