Yes, KE has been running 744s into ATL since 1994, first to Seoul via ORD and now DFW (I would expect them to start a SEL-ATL nonstop once ICN opens and DL resumes their codeshare agreement). Air France switches to 744s with the summer schedule. These and SAA are the only scheduled pax 747s into ATL (but dont' forget all the 747F operators in ATL though - CI, KE, Alitalia, Polar, LH, JL, AF, Martinair...). I kind of figured BA would also run 744s this summer, as they are apparently not flying twice a day between ATL-LGW as they did last summer. But last I checked BA is sticking with just one 777 flight.
I'd love to see DL operate 747-400s, but I really doubt it will happen. DLs long term fleet plans are all about Boeing twins. I think DL could have gone with 744s instead of the MD-11. There was obviously concern that 747s were too big for DL's pax traffic, but I think they could have operated them as combis and made a killing hauling cargo & pax to FRA, NRT, LGW, GRU...etc. But right now, the highest capacity plane DL operates is the old Trisaurus (L-1011) with up to 302 seats. The 764s and 777s that are replacing them have fewer seats! I guess this illustrates that DL has little interest in high capacity planes. The A380 is right out, that's a no brainer!
