CX To Start JFK-HKG This Year

Wed Mar 07, 2001 8:59 pm

Guess CX is not going to wait for the A346 to start JFK-HKG nonstop. They will be starting this year. Competition at its best.  Wink/being sarcastic

I'd like to know what plane will CX use for their HKG-JFK non-stop, though.

Will they modify a couple of 747-200B or 747-400 planes with extra fuel tanks to fly this route?

All talk in the company is for the A340 to fly the route. Can't justify a 744 load.

It's not unexpected, but has there been any announcement by the airline?

Also, there was talk of HKG-MAN nonstop - has anything happened with this?

The staff are Manchester are pushing Cathay for this, although I am not sure if it will happen. I believe that Cathay aren't too hot on the idea, but are considering it. Apparently the Manchester staff are also pushing for a MAN-JFK flight by Cathay, but this is probably more unlikely.
