Virgin Atlantic Grounded

Sat May 01, 1999 9:59 am

Virgin Atlantic Airways will ground it's fleet on December 31st to January 2nd. The airline said it want's to let it's employess enjoy the year 2000 celebration and has nothing to do with the Y2K. This is the first airline in the world to this kind of thing and other airlines will probally follow Virgin Atlantc Airways.

Oh good God! You almost gave me a heart attack! I thought Virgin was "grounded" for good! You should reword your titles somewhat. Good thing it is only for 3 days.

It is absolutely true that Virgin Atlantic will reduce its
services (See their website, especially http://www.fly.virgin.com/n_europe/globe/news1.htm).

Klm May Follow Virgin

Sat May 01, 1999 10:21 pm

I read last year that KLM had plans to do the same, but in order to not put in risk their planes if they couldn't resolve Y2K problem in time.
But, I hadn't more news since this.

To expand on this a bit...Richard Branson is planning on throwing the largest street party of the century in Edinburough Sctland on NewYears Eve. I'm sure there will be many Virgin employees there. I hope to be there myself!!

Cheers,
