Lineas Areas Azteca Set To Launch

Fri Mar 09, 2001 12:58 pm

Hi,

According to the Justplanes website, LAA has received its Operating Certificate and is set to launch service later this month. Initial cities served will be Mexico City, Guadalajara, Zacatecas, and Tijuana. In time, LAA plans service to the US.

Lets hope they will be around a long time. BTW, I understand that LAA has ordered 737-700s from Boeing for later delivery. What aircraft will they begin with? Perhaps the 733 until the 73Gs arrive?

Rgds,
Joe

Yes, they received their operating certificate granting them any route they want to fly in Mexico and international routes previous government approval.

LAA closed a deal with Boeing Capital to get two B733´s (leased) to start flying this month. They will also get two more B733´s on may and the two B73G´s (purchase) in july.

The first routes will be:
Mexico City - Guadalajara - Tijuana
Mexico City - Zacatecas - Tijuana
Mexico City - Uruapan - Tijuana

They have plans to start flying to Los Angeles, Oakland, San Jose and some other US cities with Mexican population next year.
