Airline Growth Over Passenger's Back?

CNN reports today that the american airline industry should experience its tenth consecutive year of growth this year. And this, despite rising fuel prices, growing labor unrest and increasing flight delays. With all the fuzz about "economic class syndrome" and the like, do you think this growth is made to the detriment of passenger's comfort and security?
