NWA's 727-200's

Does anyone know if NWA still operates the 727-200, and if so where do they fly to. They use to be frequent visitors to LAX, I think they look nice in NWA current scheme. Thanks in advance

NWA still operates 727-200.
I was at the Salt Lake City (SLC) airport today and saw two land here within an hour of each other.

I know for a fact that they seem to have quite a few flights out of Memphis on 727s. I know of Indy and Boston for a fact. I believe some to Tampa, anything else would be just a guess though. I know that within a few years they will all be gone, unfortunately they are disappearing from the passengers skies. I still get to see a ton in FedEx colors, though.

The last time I saw NW 727's regularly show up at LAX was early 1995.

I haven't seen any since, although on occasion, one will show up at ONT (Ontario, CA) and park at the old terminal.

My guess is that they are charters of some kind.

They still regularly fly out of Detroit to various locations. I don't know where they go, and they are disappearing, but I still see quite a few. Yesterday I was outside early in the morning and a couple tookoff which shocked me because I thought they would fly quieter aircraft in the morning

Yes, there are still couple of NWA 727's fly in and out MSP. Just few minutes ago, I saw the NWA 727-200 landing over by my window.

The Houston Rockets of the NBA regularly use a Northwest 727-200 when they go out on the road. Usually the day before a road game, they'll fly out of HOU in their "reconfigured" Boeing beauty.

Yep, NWA still has a few 727s. They're on a fast track to being replaced by A320s, though. They'll be gone by next year.

Next week I'm on a NWA 727 from DTW-EWR (I booked this flight specifically for the 727 experience). I'm curious to see what they've done with the interiors of them compared with the '717' interior they put in their DC-9s (which I'm on on the first leg of the trip, MCI-DTW).

I saw two of them in Newark about a month ago. I took a picture of one that was leaving the gate, one of my best shots (I can e mail it to you if you want), and the other one was resting in the middle of the tarmac. Northwest 727's look good in the current livery. You're right, the last one will be retired in 2002.

The Northwest 727s have nice interiors, but they don't have new overhead bins like the DC9s nor do they have new cieling panels. Comparing the NW 727 I flew in 1998 from MSP-DTW and the 727 I was on last month from DTW to PBI and back, they looked better now but not really any more modern. The cabin looks like it is appropriate for early 1990s... the carpeting, seats, and walls have been replaced but the units above the seats with the seat belt and smoking signs are the same as always. This is not true with the nines...they have entirely new interiors (nice ones too)

GRR still gets a few NW 727's a day from DTW and MSP.
SO does MDW I think.
