Varig Has Buffet For Economy Pax!

Thu Mar 15, 2001 5:09 pm

I was just wondering around airline websites and on VARIG's website it said:
"VARIG Economy holds pleasant surprises and quality service to the passengers. For the principle meals on-board international flights, the passengers choose between two or three entrée options, depending on the route or the length of the flight. On transoceanic flights, there is a Snack Bar at your disposal, a self-service buffet with a variety of light meals. On day flights longer than five hours, between movies the flight crew offers a Movie Snack, sandwiches and finger food to accompany your favorite beverage. "

Is it as good as it sounds??

And are they the only ones with Economy buffet bars?

Indeed, most airline's longer flight provide the so-called "buffet bar"! The FA on board, like JL and SR, will always put some sandwiches, cup noddles and some drinks at the galley and everyone can pick it up there.

I think Varig is talking about this kind of buffet bar!

A lot of airlines have this service. It varies between carriers. In some cases, the FAs walk down the aisles and offer pax a choice of sandwiches, chips, cookies, etc. In other cases, there is a standup section near the galley which is filled with chips, cookies, noodles, etc. It's sustenance food, not the buffet at the Waldorf.
