UA Premier... What To Expect?

Thu Mar 15, 2001 8:09 pm

To anyone who might know... I might be going up to Seattle (on shuttle) at the beginning of April. this would be the first time I'd be utilizing my Premier status, so I'd like to find out exactly what this is getting me. Since this is shuttle I understand the "rewards" could be different from a standard domestic flight. I might also be going out to JFK or ORD in the next couple months. Any benefits that I should be hoping for there? Or do you really have to be a super frequent flyer to get the advantages of being a premier member? Thanks for the info ahead of time

Expect nothing.

That way, you will never be disappointed.

Being a Premier, 1K, etc. won't do you any good on Shuttle. Expect service comprable to Greyhound.

United has so many premier members that you really need to be Executive Premier or 100K to have it make a difference. Premiers are at the bottom of the list for upgrades and seats in the Economy Plus section. Getting on the plane earlier than the masses is about all you can expect. has many forums. It has spell check and search functions. Use them before posting!

I wonder what the Airlines will do to lure business travelers now that the economy is slowing, and business travel is decreasing. I don't see that they will add much more to the frequent flyer programs...and they can't add much more to First and business class....maybe they will have to increase service in coach...haha

As a Premier, I honestly think you are treated better any time you have to come in contact with CSRs. Something just makes you more legitamite in there eyes...maybe I am just percieving this. I first achieved premier when I was sixteen....and they ALWAYS asked to see my membership card when I would check in at the premier desk, or when I had a special request. As soon as I would show it, they became very cooperative, even love it.

I have never flown shuttle, but on regular United flights....I have been upgraded to first several times without even asking. But the others are probably right, you usually just get to board three minutes before the others.

Yeah I kind of expect it will be nothing considering the requirements for Premier this year are quite low. I am expecting nothing special but hoping for some nice treatment. hehe

You get to sit in economy plus. Economy Plus is great, I am a premir member. I am 6 feet tall and I got the bulkhear of economy plus in an a320 on my last flight, my legs could not reach the wall. I had 4 whole windows to myself. Usually in coach you have 1.5 windows. You can also upgrade to the next class of service for 5,000 miles instead of 10,000 miles.

Hmm i don't think Cattle Cars.... I mean United Shuttle has Econ plus... though I've been in it on a trans con and it really is much more comfortable. Can you upgrade using the 5k each way reward on discounted fares too? I know that the 10k is the usual, but can premiers use the 5k on any US route or fare (excluding special sales) if you don't know, its fine. Thanks for the help

Early Air is incorrect. If SJC>SFO is flying on Shuttle, there will be no Economy Plus seating.
