What happend to the old "airbus" it was an excellent plane and now its being ripped apart in a Nevada Desert. The 727 has been around for longer and its still being flown. WHY??? I loved the DC-10

The -10 is no longer copetitive mainly because of fuel consumtion and maintenance. Airlines would much rather opt for 767, 777 or A330 these days.

However, like the DC-8, we will see the DC-10 in service for a LONG time to come as a freighter aircraft.

Some DC-10's are still flying around. Iberia and SkyJet are one of Europe's examples. Air Holland will start flying the DC10 (an ex-Continental) in May 2001 with a brand new colourscheme. The new AH-scheme could, in some way, be compared with former CPAir and the orange Braniff. The AH-DC10 will be painted in typical Dutch colours.

IB has retired all of thier -10s. The last flight was Caracas-Madrid, back in November I believe.

Watch for many DC-10's to return as re-equipped MD-10 freighters.

Up, up and away!

I like the DC-10, I dont get why they are flying the older 727's and getting rid of the DC-10's. If they were to get rid of the DC-10's so fast why not the 727 too?

I don't know about you guys, but I totally abhor the DC-10. It is uncomfortable to fly in and recently I got a big headache on a NWA DC-10 that was approaching Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport last July. I wish that Northwest and all other airlines just retire and trash their DC-10's. I will always dislike the DC-10.

I agree with Early Air,
almost all the DC9s DC10s,Tristars & other equipment of that era have been retired, why not the 727 too, as they are just as noisy & polluting as the others.
