A few of my relatives work in the Everett plant. 1 is in marketing, and some are in engineering.

I get free tours and sometimes they let me into brand new planes to look around before any others go in!

Last year, one of them let me inside and brand new United 747-400 after a fresh paint job. It was one of the best 10 minutes of my life!

Wideboby,

How was your experience at Airbus? Do you want to go back to the Airbus as a permanent staff?

I had a cool time there, got plenty of experience, and Toulouse is a great place to live......I'm graduating in June, though will probably end up with BAE Systems or Rolls Royce....I'd like to go back to Airbus, maybe in a few years, just not straight away......the possibility exists to go back with BAE Systems.......I'll wait and see.....

Are you thinking of venturing over to France?

Thanks for the info, widebody.

No, I don't planning to go France to work, although France is one of my favorite place to visit. I was just curious about your experinece at Airbus. I am currently working in one of American aviation related companies.

I guess since BAE system owns 20% of Airbus, you will get a chance to transfer to Airbus in the future.

I was in Touloso for 3 hours last summer to transfer the train. I wished I was able to stay in T. at least for a day, but my travel companion wasn't.

Do you have any thought about venturing in America or Canada?

Toulouse is one of the nicest cities I have ever been in, it's so central as well, Mediterranean an hour or two east, the Atlantic about 3 hours west, and Spain about 2 hours south, with the Pyrennees only about an hour away......I recommend a stay there if at all possible.....I have thought about both America and Canada......I tried Canada3000 for a training placement, as well as jetBlue in New York, no luck though, so this summer I'm heading down to San Diego....my first time in the U.S., I'm hoping I'll want to go back!!! BAE Systems would be a good start, a large company with many different divisions.......and I know a good lot of people working there, so getting to know people shouldn't be too difficult.....most graduates end up in Bristol....

Sure, SD will be great place to go. At least more sunshine than where I live. I live in Seattle area. Have you ever thought about Boeing? I know that Boeing is looking for engineers. Since you had a experience at Airbus, it will be a big plus for you.

Yeh, Boeing wouldn't be too bad, Seattle is a long way from Ireland though!! The way it is at the moment, I've made many friends in Airbus, BAE and many airlines, and most of my class will probably end up in BAE, so for the moment, it seems like the best path to take........the last I heard, Boeing were having major problems with their engineers in terms of contracts and pay, and Flight International even predicted a large outflow of engineers from Seattle to Toulouse...I reckon now that I've a good bit of Airbus experience, I may as well focus on it and further it.....besides, after spending a year with Airbus, you end up sub-consciously attaching yourself to the company......one engineer who made the switch said that the word 'Airbus' is almost banned in the corridors in Seattle, dunno about the truth in that, but that's what the man said.......

I think people leaving Boeing has lot to do with Phil Condit and Alan Mullay's managing philosophy. Can't really discuss in dept, but willing to share with you. Contact me at cruising_jerry@hotmail.com, if you like to hear.
