Arrival Of Alitalia 777s?

Sat Mar 17, 2001 11:10 pm

HI

I was just wondering if someone knew when Alitalia`s first B777-200ER is scheduled for delivery ?
I am very anxious to see the 777 in Alitalia livery, as I predict them to look damn good....
And have they exercised their options for the -300ER ?
Those will look even better!!

thanx..

Not before March 2002. If they kept there 747-400 orders they would have been delivered now.

Why didn't AZ buy 3430/340 instead of 777?
Only because she changed the 747 order or 4 ther reasons?

Excuse me for typing mistakes.
The text was:

Only because it changed the order of 747 or there are other reasons?
I apologize for mistakes.

It seems like Alitalia is building a long-haul fleet of Boeings, whereas the A32X is the short-haul foundation...
But they are also rumored to be looking closely at NG737s......
They ditched the 5 744s on order in favour 6 772ERs, and 6 773ERs on option. They are also a likely candidate for the 764LR......

Alitalia was smart going for the GE90 powered 777-200ER over the CFM56-5C4 powered A340-300. The 777-200ER has better takeoff performance over the underpowered A340-300.

What??????!!!

Tedski actually said a positive remark on the GE90!!
Way to go, Tedski....
I totally agree with you though. Those GE90-94B that Alitalia have ordered are way powerful, even though they have composite fan blades.....  Big grin

I said this because Alitalia is a GE customer, all of their aircraft are GE powered and I think the two engine 777-200ER with the GE90 is the smart way to go with over 92,000lbs each with a total thrust of over 180,000lbs, vs. the four engine CFM56-5C4 powered A340-300 with 34,000lbs thrust each with a total of 136,000lbs thrust.

The only problem is that the Ba 744s are RR and AZ always used GE.

Any news on the 773ERs on option?
Have they exercised any ?
If they can wait till the -300ERs arrive, this would be smart to do, as the BA RR 744s would be kind of a misfit in their fleet.
