Beech 1900 Crash In Angola, Any Info?

Tue Mar 20, 2001 11:54 pm

Last saturday 17 March a Beechcraft 1900C of Sociedade de Aviacao Ligeira Lubango-SAL crashed in Angola. 16 of the 17 occupants on board were killed. It crashed on approach into a mountain.
Does anyone know more info, like the registration number of this aircraft?
Thanks!

There is a description of the accident at

http://aviation-safety.net/database/2001/010317-0.htm

Registration of the craft is listed with a question mark, so it seems it is not verified.

According to ANGOP, the Angolan news agency, the a sociedade de aviação ligeira (SAL) Beech 1900-C was registered S9-CAE and left Luanda at 7:55 a.m. and was approaching Lubango at 9:45 a.m. when it crashed for unkown reason(s) 20 km. short of its destination.

In the same report they state that 15 passengers and 2 pilots were onboard and there were 16 casualties (so presumably there was one survivor).

Futhermore the report states that the airline's technical specialists and Angolan aviation investigators have been dispatched to the scene of the accident to begin the official investigation.

Airlinersonline.com reported yesterday that the single survivor was a crewmember. That is all I can add to this information.
