You should not listen to birds as they are giving you false information. BTW, the Son of Sam used to listen to his neighbor's dog and you see where that got him!

I recall when CX made its announcement about the 346, the HKG-ORD route was mentioned. As CX is AA's Asian oneworld partner, maybe they will wait for CX to operate the route?

Just as an aside, if the SJC-TPE route remains as successful as is suggested, then AAL may well wish to expand its presence in that market. Currently, only CAL flies nonstop from TPE to JFK, although it can't do so on the return. It would be interesting to see how the 777 fares.

Also, AA has an advantage in that, not being a Taiwanese carrier, it could benefit from the new polar routes over China. I don't think/know if CAL is allowed to use these. (Then again, if the flight were bound for Taiwan, the Chinese might object?)

Just exactly what route does CAL take to TPE-JFK.I don't think it's polar.Anyway a ORD-HKG will be a good idea.Steal some UAL customers.

I think the Chinese would not allow traffic bound for Taiwanese soil over their airspace.
But hey, I didn't know about that nonstop TPE-JFK on 744, geee 6816nm !! That has the be the longest scheduled nonstop route. I entered a routing via SEL, VVO and KHV for they have to avoid flying over PRC and North Korea. How's that for deep vein trombosis  Smile

What is interesting is that the Chinese government isn't so fanatical about US-based airlines flying to both Taiwan and China. After all, I believe that NW flies to both TPE and PEK.

I won't be surprised if AA will use its code-share authority with (I believe) China Southern Airlines so AA can fly ORD-HKG. Fortunately, the ORD-HKG route is well within the range of the 777-200ER that AA flies on their long international routes.

CI only flies TPE-JFK non-stop during winter. However, JFK-TPE are via Anchorage, as well as during the summer time.
