BA 777 In San Diego

Just wondering if anyone knew when BA will switch the daily flight from a 747 to 777. Also wondering what time the flight will arrive and depart. I do plan i being there with digital camera in hand for this occasion. Also wondering if anything special is planned to welcome the first(i think) 777 at lindbergh and first direct non-stop to europe...

any info appreciated

I do remember being in San Diego three years ago watching a BA DC-10-30 though!

I would imagine that the Port Commission is planning some sort of arrival ceremony at the gate...they haven't said anything about it though.

what i am wondering though is if the international arrivals hall at SAN that is being built to handle this flight will be ready by this sunday! Last time I was at SAN (2 weeks ago) there was still a lot of construction debris in the area...I wonder what's gonna happen if it isn't ready???

Where is this being built? I am dropping a friend off at the airport for a Southwest flight on Saturday evening, so I can take a look and see what's there, if I know where to look.

I also plan to be there Sunday with my camera. I will be in the small parking lot at the corner of Harbor and Laurel. Look for a light biege Mercedes 240D sedan (the driver's side front hubcap is unpainted, so that's a unique identifier to look for). Feel free to say hello. I'm planning to be there to photograph both the arrival and departure.

And please try to get Reg. number. I've been on G-VIIG (twice), G-VIIU, and G-YMMC all on Boston-London or London-Boston flights. Not sure whether BA's Gatwick 777s are different from those used at LHR.

Im going SAN-LGW on april 4 on the 777... Ill do a trip report. Although, I am a little sad it's not the 747. I wanted the Jumbo Jet baby, yeah!

I am probably going to watch the landing from "The Windsock" restaurant on the right side of Runway 27...it will probably be packed with spotters though.

Bigo747: Hey, at least you don't have to stop in Phoenix!!

Hawaiian717: The new International Arrivals Hall is being built between the west satellite of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 East (so just keep driving after you drop off your friend obviously). When completed, it will be able to handle either 2 747-sized aircraft at a time or 3 757-sized aircraft. Airlines that will be housed there are British Airways, Aeromexico, Alaska (int. arrivals), and I think Northwest if they need the gate space.
