FS2000

Sat May 08, 1999 9:14 pm

Microsoft Flight simulator 2000 is coming out very soon, and I guess every fs buff are excited about it. Some people say it will not be as good as expected. Here are some of the ideas for Fs2000:

1. Retractable landing gear/flaps.
2. Visible snow, rain. And rain effects e.g when a plane lands in a wet runway the water vapors should be visible.
3. Visible fire-if a fire starts, it should be able to destory a plane-similar to combat FS
4. Emergency modes-hydralulic leaks, engine falls off pylon, landing gear collpses, tyre bursts, wing falls off etc...
5. Visible engine in reverve thrust mode
6.wing can bend. eg, visible wing bending on touchdown

please submit more ideas if you have some

I don't know what you mean by "retractable landing gear and flaps", but FS98 already has that.

I think what he means is that you will actually see the gear and flaps retracting. I previous FS verions, they simply disappear when you retract them.

The game sounds great to me, and a lot more realistic, but can you use downloaded aircraft intended for FS98 and panels in this game? Probably not, if I were to buy it, I would still fly for Delta in FS98. What I meant is that I have just about every upgrade current to FS98, like Airport 2000, ProFlight 98, Flight Shop, EFIS for FS 98, and many others. It's just like working for the airline, with now having ATC chatter from ProFlight 98 and Flight Shop, and if this game is not compatible with those, it will not replace my FS98. For those of you that have FS98 and do not have any of those upgrades, get at least one, you'll notice a marked change in realism!

This is my first ever posting on here, so please be nice to me! I just have a huge problem, everytime I download an aircraft for FS98 it doesn't work. I have no idea why not, does anyone have any ideas of why it doesn't work? I mean, I have done everything that I am supposed to do..
...Now they face an even greater danger...Tyrannousaurs in F-14's!!

On the planes that come with FS98 you can see the gear retract, but with downloaded planes you can't see the gear retract.

There should be more planes that come with the game that you can fly like the 747 and Concorde. That would be very detailed. There should be more staitic aircraft in the air and on the ground at airports, and there would be the correct type of plane at each airplort. If you were flying at DFW there would be lots of AA and DL planes, or if you were flying around Edwards AFB there would be F-16 and F-15's everywhere. There would be correct terminals at every airport. Also almost every large city would have perfect layout, probally using satiliite pictures. Because that city pattern in FS98 gets pretty boring.

First, you need to have the Flight Shop Converter installed for FS98. When you download an aircraft, it is in the form of a zip file. Extract the contents to your main FS98 folder. Then run the converter. Click aircraft files button, and then choose the *.AIR file of the aircraft you downloaded from the FS98 folder. If aall goes well, there will now be a new folder created in the FS98\Aircraft folder. Now run your simulator, and select aircraft. It shoud be there.
Good luck! And if you need more help, feel free to e-mail me :)

It is also supposed to have ATC already in it, not needing any upgrades for that. And some more detailed cities....but they can't detail everything, they leave that to other people, people who post scenery add-ons on the internet or some other company that will do it, so that then you can upgrade the city you want, and not have a lot of memory space taken with a bunch of detailed cities that you don't fly to.

Fs2000 Ideas

Lauda777 is right, FS2000 will have new aircraft like the Concorde and the 777-300, and a couple of props. www.simflight.com have just released a couple of screenshoots, and I saw them and personally think they are a bit better than currecnt FS98.

I think Micorosoft should make aircraft packs like a 747 pack where4 it has the exact panels, sounds, and 747s in different airline liveries, and they shuuld be avilable for download.

And to skygirl, some files are for FS98 only, so they don't need FSFS converter.

By the way, FS2000 will be previewed at E3 shortly. Kepp your fingers crossed!
