Is Plane In The Picture A L1011?

Well it seems to me it is clearly a DC-10...

Look at the engines... They are too near to the fuselage. The L1011 has their engines more separated. And look at under the wings: there is just three of those things that support the flaps (I guess this is their function...) and L1011 has five under each wing.
For me the overall shape is from a DC-10!
Whats your opinion?

totally agree, that´s a DC-10.
in addition to your proofs, one would also see the no.2 engine if it were a L-1011, but this is the engine configuration of a DC-10.

No, that plane is a DC-10. I used the Guide to Airport Airplanes which has an underview silhouette for the DC-10 and L1011. I copied the pic to my prining program and zoomed in. I compared the picture to the silhouettes and it matches the DC-10 silhouette. Hope this helps!

It could be either a DC-10 or MD-11.

Nope...I feel pretty sure it's an L-1011!

Look at the schematics and then compare them.

In My View Its A -30

Sun Mar 25, 2001 6:10 pm

I would say its a -30 and the more I look at it the more I say it is definatly AIH. If I am right and it is a -30, I think AIH only have one-30 G-BYDA (but i maybe wrong) but if not ehn we now know the reg of the a/c!You can just see on the foward fusealge the Airtours writting and the blue belly. And Vasco says "Flying over Logan, coming from the North and heading Southwest" so it could be coming from the UK going to Sanford or caribbean.

Thats my view

That is definately a DC-10. You can tell by the Flap actuators on the bottom of the wings (large and triangular) and the overall shape of the fusalage is a dead giveaway.
