Miat Starts HK Flight

Wed Mar 28, 2001 5:08 pm

Mongolia's MIAT Mongolia Airlines will launch twice a week service between Hong Kong and Ulaan Baator, effective end of June.

MIAT flew this route as a charter last year twice, with load factor above 65%. This gives MIAT the confident to operate this route. MIAT also wants to attract Taiwan's tourist as well, they will have to fly to Hong Kong than onboard MIAT's flight to Ulaan Baator.

What Ryan ??

You have just posted the story about Ethopian Airlines that I already posted at lunch time !!

The news about MIAT is not old, they have said for a while that they will fly to Hong Kong but they always delay. Last year they just did the two flights and now they are confirming they will start a scheduled service.

B727 is not allowed to land HKG airport. So, you won't be able to see the B727 in HKG.

Its nice to have a new airline flying to Hong Kong but when you know its the same aircraft on every flight its very boring.

May be a rotation of B727 and A310?

That is great, maybe they are also eyeing some routes to Vancover, Canada after some years.

Taleban, MIAT has only one medium to long-range aircraft in the fleet. They have very limited financial resources, I don't see how they will suddenly start a route to North America when they have very infrequent service to major points in Asia.

While MIAT is going to use the A310 for obvious reasons, why would the 727 not be permitted??? Cr-j's comment is very puzzling.

If MIAT's 727 are in Stage 3 configuration, they can land to Hong Kong as the noise restriction here. But, are they in stage 3?

Hong Kong will not allow the G3 in !!. No way the 727 of MIAT can come if its not stage 3. Anyway they only have two 727 left.

CPDC10-30, 727s

Hello,

CPDC10-30:I believe you didn't take time to read my post. I said maybe in FUTURE get it FUTURE not SUDDENLY.

Some airports have policies that old aircraft can't land there. One such example being Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. They don't allow any aircraft more than 15 years old to land there. They did this during the Hajj.
