BA 767s - Where Do They Fly From?

Thu Mar 29, 2001 3:45 pm

I flew into LHR for the first time last Wednesday (21/3/2001) and returned home on Monday (26/3/2001). As expected there were lots of BA planes around, including many 747-400s, 777-200s, 757-200s and several 747-200s and A319/320s. What I did not see at all was any BA 767.

Do BA have any 767 flights out of Heathrow? If not, where are they based (Gatwick maybe?) and what routes are flown with them?

Thanks in advance.

Trintocan.

British Airways is selling there 767s to Qantas now. Last time I passed through London, they were based both in Gatwick and Heathrow.

Hope that helps

Kind regards.

Most of them, I believe are based at LHR. A few are at LGW and 1 is at MAN for the JFK flight.

There are usually quite a few BA 767-300's to be seen at heathrow. I returned from Barcelona on one just recently that was in major need of a re-fit, both internally & externally!!.

BA 767's at Heathrow are mainly used on a variety of European routes; Madrid, Barcelona, Moscow etc.

At Gatwick, they are used for long-hauls (Caracas&Bogota) and are just about to start flying to Nassau and Providenciales (Turks&Caicos Islands). Another 767 route I can think of is Entebbe (for Kampala, Uganda).

Trintocan, I was at LHR on the 26th too, in the morning. I was flying in a Classic 747 from BOS. We were parked next to G-ZZZA a BA777 in old c/s.

(My trip report is in the other forum).

Cheers.

I believe Qantas has leased 7 (?) ex BA Roller powered 767-300ERs. I don't believe they intend to purchase them particularly with the A330s due in coming years.

I flew in one from Brisbane to Sydney when I was transferred to Qantas (I normally only fly with Ansett) and the power of the engines was all too obvious even with a full load.

Then QF put us on a 767-200 (Pratt powered) for the flight from Sydney to Perth. Talk about a disappointment. Certainly no comparison to Ansett.

I flew a 767-300 from ATH to Heathrow last summer. My first Rolls-powered 767.

I remember about 10 years ago being stuck in Paris after BA cancelled all it's LHR-CDG-LHR flights after they found cracks in the wing. At the time they were the only operator using Rolls-Royce powered 767s and they thought that the engines were too heavy. They just expected me to pay for a hotel until they could find a spare seat for me on another plane. Fortunately British Midland offered me a seat on a BAC 1-11 to LHR for no charge. Good for BM!

Hello,
British Airways has a lot of flights to and from Rome FCO operated with 767 and 757.
I flew in 767 G-BZHA (Wings tail) in June 2000 from FCO to LHR

Thanks a lot guys. Capt. Picard, what a small world it is indeed! I flew out of LHR from Terminal 3, on BWIA TriStar 500 9Y-THA, which left at 1310HR. Since I arrived at the airport a few hours before it is likely we were both in the port at the same time (albeit on opposite sides). My trip report will soon follow.

Take it easy.
