This summer i am flying New York JFK to Amsterdam and then on to Kilamanjaro on KLM. I would like to know what to expect about the airline. Whats the food like the service, seats etc.
Thank you  Smile

I don't know if i shall tell you, but i was quite dissappointed with KLM longhaul.
I flew KL644 (JFK-AMS) on 23.03.2001, on board PH-BUL, which is KLM's second oldest 747 (747-200SUD Combi)
The aircraft was in exelent shape, and very cleaen, the FA's vere very nice and the flight smooth and nice.
As you have reconized this vere all nice, but I'm soory it stopps here.
The 747 was cpamped 31" (KLM747, who works for KLM told me on the chat) and the seatback was too short. Recline was good, but you had to put the seat in upright possition while eating (so cramped was it)
The food wasn't too nice either. After takeoff a sandwich (which was good, but very small) and a cake was served. Before landing a breakfast with pancaces and cotage cheese (didn't manage to eat it)
It was maybe my choise that was bad, but the meals were anyway too small.

Hope i didn't scared you too much, but after sevral exelent european flights, I had expected something better. (better seats had made the whole difference)

Often it isn't the airline which is bad, its the catering!! I know what Tg747-300 is on about. I couldn't face blue-berry yoghurt and muffin (from JFK into LHR) served somewhere over the Irish coast. I don't think many people could polish off that breakfast!
