Is NWA The Only Airline Ordering 747's?

Fri Mar 30, 2001 4:17 am

Does anyone know if there are any other airlines besides Northwest that are currently ordering, or taking delivery of new 747's?? I am curious becuase I have heard Boeing has put the 747 on the back burner to a new long range, high speed aircraft.

I believe Boeing is only halting development of the 747 type that would have competed with the A380, not current 747 production models.

After yesterdays news of slowing down the 747X project (its not dead) the Jumbo-market is clearer now. So I guess in the next months we´ll see some airlines ordering more 744s and 744LRs than in the last two years. JAL, ANA. later Northwest, United, Air China and the like. LH Cargo maybe, Cargolux.
