Delta Pilots Reject NMB Offer

Fri Mar 30, 2001 4:53 am

Delta's pilots have rejected the National Mediation Board's proffer of arbitration, triggering the probable start of a 30-day cooling-off period, after which the pilots could legally strike.

Both Delta management and ALPA indicated to reporters this morning their belief that they'll reach an agreement prior to the end of the cooling-off period.

Delta management accepted the proffer of arbitration last week, which would engage both sides in binding arbitration that would result in a final contract. DALPA's Master Executive Commitee met this morning and rejected the proffer.

No word yet on the NMB's response, which will begin the cooling-off period. Also no word on Bush's response.
