More space for KLM in China
Delegation trips usually owe their successes to endless preliminary negotiations. Knowing this it comes as no surprise that Dutch transport minister Tineke Netelenbos has announced possible expansion of flights between the Netherlands and China by national carrier KLM, when in China. However, KLM has to await developments of further negotiations about cargo and passengers flights between the Netherlands and China in the second half of this year. Beforehand, Netelenbos dares to see the future negotiations as 'a big step forwards'. She added that KLM has to co-operate with China Southern Airlines to make it really happen.
China appears to be an attractive destination for airlines. The country's economy grows with an average of 7 to 8 per cent annually. The liberalisation of its market is an incentive for foreign businesses, and Western businesses in particular, to establish themselves in the Peking and Shanghai region. Others go to china in the hope to obtain orders.
