Spotting At Quebec City

Sun Apr 01, 2001 10:00 am

I'll be at Quebec City over the summer. Can you see any jets landing at the
Montreal airports from there, and if so, is there a good spot. Also, is there
any other airport nearby? Is there a chance of me seeing the PW Boeing
720 C-FETB that tests engines in Quebec City? Thanks.

As Quebec City is 2 1/2 hours from Montreal, seeing any of the Montreal aircraft would be very unlikely. As for the B720 test aircraft, it is based at Montreal-St-Hubert Airport. However, it does do test flights into the North of Quebec, so it is possible it occasionally passes by YQB. But once again very unlikely. There are a few interesting things at Quebec City Airport though. It is the base for Conifair, which operates about 10 DC4 and DC6 aircraft. An interesting and unusual site. It is also the base for Quebec's Water Bomber fleet. Other than that you'll pobably only see AC, Continental and some of the smaller Quebec airlines. Maybe some biz jets as well. I belive Air Transat and Canada3000 have the occasional charter there as well.
