When Will We See More Room On AA 777s

Mon Apr 02, 2001 11:52 am

As the topic states. I believe AA is practically finished repitching coach on all of their fleet except I don't think they've started a single 777. Does anyone know the reason for this?

Thank you.

Since the repitch takes the airplane out of service for a couple of days, they have been waiting till enought 777's are in the fleet to allow one to be removed and retrofitted without disrupting schedules. New ones are being delivered with more room starting with ship (nose number 7BJ). Also AA will retrofit the "Atlantic Configuration" airplanes to the Flagship Suite, and more room in business class (60" pitch) at the same time.

Plan is to have entire fleet reconfiguration complete by end of summer. International fleet is much more difficult to schedule due to greater amount of maintenance work to be done per aircraft and fewer aircraft available to maintain the flight schedule when one is pulled for said work.
