Starting tomorrow Aloha Airlines will start another flight to the mainland. This will be it's third and it flies from Kona-Oakland-Las Veags. Right now all of Aloha's flights to Oakland continue to Las Vegas. I relieze that Las Vegas is a popular destination from Hawaii, but why does every flight contine to Las Vegas? Not everyone is going to stay on the plane from Oakland, so is Aloha trying to pick up some O and D traffic (OAK-LAS) as well? The bay area to Las Veages market is very competitive. Southwest has 10 OAK-LAS daily and 6 SJC-OAK, AA has 6 SJC-LAS flights and UAL has dominates the SFO-LAS route. From HNL-LAS it is 2,760 miles and the 737-700 can make the flight, so why wouldn't they go for that? If someone will go HNL-SNA (new service starting in June) on a 737, what is 35 more minutes?
