I'd like to see Southwest start up a MSY-AUS-SLC-SEA round trip. Currently no airline flies nonstop MSY-AUS, so they'd have a monopoly on that route. Delta's n/s service AUS-SLC is only in one direction. Coming back you either connect at DFW or stop briefly in SAT, so Southwest would have a semi monopoly in that they would have nonstop service in both directions for that city pair. It would also provide quick one-stop service from MSY-SLC and AUS-SEA, two high-tech cities with no nonstop service between the two.
I'm not holding my breath though. Last year Austin got 3 new Southwest flights. 1 to SAN, 1 to RDU and 1 to BWI. This year, Southwest just added a 2nd n/s to SAN and RDU effective April 2 and will add a 3rd n/s to LAS August 5, so it looks like AUS has gotten it's allotment of new Southwest flights for the year.
