CO 99 From The Artic Circle..

Wed Apr 11, 2001 9:11 pm

For all those interested, I am currently flying over the Polar cap on Continental Flight 99 to Hong Kong. Today is ship 11, the flight time today is going to be 15hrs and 31 minutes, and we are flying the polar route. There was speculation on airliners that the reason for the non use of the polar route over the last week being due to both to head winds and also to do with the current tension with China, but the actual reason is due to the solar flare issue that happened a few days ago.

As the fee for sending emails from the plane is almost as expensive as the ticket itself, I will not sit and chat.

I am presently standing at HKG airport waiting for UA1 to DEL to board and staring at yesterday's CO aircraft parked on the tarmac. What a small world  Smile

Gordon Bethune was just on CNBC Asia with Barnard Lo and just trashed every competitor from the US to Asia. It was a good typical Gordon cheerleading session, but that is what makes him such a great CEO.

Daryl,
Seems to have been a hell of a time lag from when the email was sent to when it arrived. I flew out of Newark on the 10th, arriving on the 11th (today).
