I have never been in an emergency before in an airliner... the roughest turbulence i have been in were some light CAT when i was really young and another time we flew through the wake turbulence of a 757 in front of us about a year ago.
In the Turbo Seminole (a twin piper 4 seater) I flew alot this summer, a cylinder head blew out which disabled my left engine. I had to fully shut down the engine and feather it, then make an emergency single engine landing in Madison County Executive airport just north of Huntsville. Defintiely a wierd feeling knowing if i dont make this landing good i am not going to have another chance. In that same airplane, a month later, an oil gasket or something gave out in that same right engine on departure from LZU airport in Atlanta, start bleeding oil all over the place. I immediately requested non-emergency, but priority clearance for immediate return ot the runway. I hated taht plane.. but had to get the multi-engine training. I have also had 2 alternator failures in other aircraft, had to get the airplane on the ground immediatly.. one of them i lost my electric power just as I got down to the ground. Lucky me.
Chicks dig winglets.
