UAL's transcon 762's are approaching 20yrs old. I fly the JFK-SFO/LAX route constantly and am very familiar with this equipment. I have travelled in all three classes. How much longer will UAL fly them before they are replaced? What will they be replaced with? More new 762's ala Continental? 763's? 764's (probably not, too big)?
Before that eventuality, is United EVER planning to upgrade the interiors of their three class transcon 762's? Are they ever going to install the new business seats? Right now they are still using the old Conisseur Class business seats. The old First Class seats are quite comfortable enough, reclining almost fully flat and are equipped with personal video players. But new First seats would make it better ala their three class international 763's (one of which does fly JFK-SFO). It would be nice if the transcon business on the 762's got inseat video and if economy got the new economy seats with adjustable headreasts, and perhaps inseat video like the three class 763's.
Those who have a real idea, speak up! I'd like to hear more factual or informed opinions rather than pure unsubstantiated opinion.
And please, no "their going to use the A-330's from the UAL-US merger" fights.
