Should AeroAsia Be Allowed To Expand Intl. Routes?

I believe that Aero Asia, a privately owned Pakistani airline, has great potentials in it. I think that if Pakistani govt. allows them to expand internationally, then could really earn big profit. Even though they only have 3-5 planes, there reputation on domestic routes is better than PIA! Also, they did have a 707 on their route to Dubai titled "JARO" but I don't know what happened to that.

But I believe that if Pakistani govt. loans them some money so that they can afford to lease two or three A310 or A320 etc, they could start their services to Saudi Arabia, London, Manchester, and New York.

To debrief you, it is a fact that if you want to book a domestic flight with Aero Asia, it is hard to find one seat left for nearly two weeks!

Private airlines have proved their worth in the sub-continent which is used to seeing state-owned monopolies in aviation.

Today people expect service since they now have choice. And this makes even the state-owned carrier pull up its socks and compete.

In India, the arrival of a world class airline like Jet Airways (9w) on the domestic scene forced the state owned IC to go thru a makeover, and the experience is that today IC is the best airline in the regional skies today! Hence the call that IC and 9W should be allowed to compete internationally, so that the monopoly there (held by AI) is broken.

A similar thing can be applied to Pakistani carriers as well.

But there are some issues that need to be resolved. I hear pvt carriers in Pakistan use planes that are way past their useful life. My friend flew from Karachi to Hyderabad(Sindh) in some noisy Romanian built jet fit for the junkyard! Can ANY carrier compete internationally with this kind of fleet? Esp. when they are going to compete with the likes of Emirates, CX and BA?

Well, Indian Guy, the problem is that Pakistan is way more poor country than India. They also have much less passengers and cargo than in India. Also, Pakistan doesn't have many big cities or profit earning airports. Currently, of all the 42 airports, Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar are earning profit while the rest are incurring loss. One more thing is that I believe Pakistani govt. doesn't allow domestic carriers to purchase planes from Boeing or other big companies. Or, I believe that Russian planes are sold at cheap rates to these companies willing to fly their plane till it crashes!
