Planes/Airlines Becoming Run-of-the-mill

Sun Apr 22, 2001 5:01 pm

What's goin on? It seems as I look back at older pictures, thru some of my airline crap I've collected over the years and stuff that airlines and planes are becoming more and more boring. Logos of airlines are all turning to busy colors, dark planes, etc. United use to have an awesome logo, nice white plane with a striking U on the tail and the stripes, now they are dark and look like a shadow in the sky when they fly. They retired their DC10s which were beautiful planes and it's like all the big planes now look like a 737 on steroids. USAir's old colors use to be so nice, and now they are so busy on the planes. These airlines need to make more of a basic color scheme for their planes, too many colors and designs is too busy. Reno Air is gone, SWA changed it's colors to worse now, and things are just falling apart! lol I use to go to the airport to spot planes and it seems like only 5 years ago there was much more of a variety. Now it's like everybody has the same plane, 777 especially which looks just like a 767 in the sky, and it's just not fun anymore. It is just my opinion, DC10 is my fav plane and I hate to see airlines retiring them. I also love the logos of airlines from the early 90's and 80's, especially UA's old ones. White planes with just a nice splash of color looks awesome. For example, Air New Zealand's new colors look great. Just my opinion, sorry for whining! But man I am starting to miss all the oldies.

My friend, times change. So does everything else. You can't expect everything to suit everyone's needs.

Why don't you form the first DC-10 restoration society? When you restore DC-10s thirty years from now, using the funds that you've raised in the meanwhile, you can paint them in some United Airlines classic livery. You'll need the time and the energy between now and then to get your future project off the ground.
