Three Parallel Runways?

Wed Apr 25, 2001 12:24 am

I was looking at a picture of Bankstown Airport in Sydney (YSBK) and was wondering how they distinguish three parallel runways from one another. I know of the L and R designation but do they also use C for centre?
And if there is more then three involved would they use Centre Right(CR) and Centre Left(CL)?

Here is a picture of the Airport in Question:

Yeah I hope it displays it. If not just go here:

Thanks in Advance

Well, they maybe using the C for the center runway.

When using 4 runway, there are usually two numbers used:

e. g. runway heading 83 / 263:

runways: 26 L/R 8 L/R and 27 L/R 9 L/R

I know from my flight sim experience, that Chicago Midway airport also has 3 parallel runways and that indeed the middle runway is designated as 'C'.

Yes, the center runways are designated by 'C'. Many airports have center runeways. King Abdul Aziz (JEDDAH) for example. RWYs 16L, 16C, 16R and RWYs 34L, 34C, 34R.
