Neat Pic Of A BA Piper Tomahawk!

Thu Apr 26, 2001 8:27 am

This was my ride today, I thought I would share it with you!

Here is another neat picture, when I was on final it was raining so hard, it was very difficult to see out. When I was taxing back I took this picture out the side!

What is this plane used for? are they rented out to pilots or are they an actual plane that BA flys routes on?

Pretty typical weather for the UK? At least you guys are lucky, once you got your instruments rating you can log a lot of actual hours instead of simulated Big grin

These planes are owned by British Airways Flying Club, which is fully owned by British Airways PLC. Anyone can join the club, just aslong as over 50% of the members are British Airways employees.

Iain,
I did two hours on one of these in 1998. I would have gone for the full 40 but due to the crappy public
eductaion system here, I had to put my daughter in boarding school so my flying days ended quite ingloriously!! Still it's never too late eh?

Iain,

Are you learning to fly out of Wycombe?

I am currently doing my PPL out of Fairoaks, so if you are, see you over the sunny (or not so as your pics) skies of Surrey, Berks & Herts.

Would love to see one of BA's cherokee's or Tomo's on final @ LHR!

You know of course that the Tomo is the GA version of the DC-10?

Hi
I'm flying exactly the same plane here at EBCI (OO-RAB) so I'm wondering...what do you think of that good old a/c?

These pictures were taken at Wycombe air Park Buckinghamshire UK.

Its the British Airways flying club. My Friend Andy is down there today flying underprivaleged children around.

Good job you have your IMC rating Andy!

Yes a typical bloody wet day in England, we have have had more than our fair share. I hope you water companies are collecting this rainfall. We don't want excuses for hosepipe bans because it was the wrong kind of rain!

Thud boarding school will do that too you! However when those responsibilities end, you can finish it off!

Shanky, I have my PPL and flying out of Wycombe, and I hope to see you over the sunny skies of the area! I have flown a 172 into LAX before but I am in no rush to take the tomo into LHR!

Julien, it is a very fun plane to fly, I really enjoy it. But its stall is not as gentle as a C-152's!

Firebird the weather was not as bad today, it has not rained yet!

CP it is good fun, however on final and taxiback it was raining so hard you could barely see out!

Here is another picture this was of the rainbow I saw on downwind!

I find it very easy to fly, the stall is quite a ride, but general handling is very easy!
