Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal

Thu Apr 26, 2001 12:47 pm

I just saw a trailer for "Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal" on Cinemax. Cheeeeeeeesy. Someone desperately wants to try to make a contemporary "Airport" type movie franchise.

I'm extremely sad to say that I'll probably see it. Seeing as there are NO good movies that are aviation related... so I've come to expect the worst. Why must us plane buffs be neglected at the box office?

All sequels usually do suck anyways. The first Turbulence was pretty good, the second one was worse. Now the third one will probably just suck, but I will watch it anyways.

The second one is about some scared flyers who are on their first flight from SEA-SFO (maybe LAX). There are some terrorists on the flight who have some chemical bomb in the hold below. They take over the plane, kill a few people including the pilots, throw some guy out the door and yell and scream. Well then the hero saves the day when him and some lady go down below and throw the bomb out the door. Its really corny.

Agreed, the first one was pretty OK, at least, the best airline disaster movie since Airport 1975 but the second one was a diaster movie in every sense except the one intended by the idiots who made it.

They should make a sequel where absolutley nothing happens! 400 get on, they take off, see a movie, eat peanuts go to the toilet twice, and land.
At least it would be more entertining.

All those Turbulence movies are pure crap and totally unrealistic. The least these movie makers could do is research before making a mockery. If you want to see a totally believeable decompression scene, watch Final Destination. I am a flight attendant and when I was watching that movie, I tell you I got the creeps, it was exactly like a real decompression would be.

Just wondering... Do you remember the movie about Aloha's 737... (Well, yes in movie, it was Paradise). Thought it was pretty good movie - however - I recalled seen a FA tried to walk up the aisle to assist some injured passengers during the flight against the rush of air - My question, is that true? Could it be possible for FA to walk up against the wind at speed of over 500 kts? I can believe that FA would crawl on the floor to assist another injured FA but walk with hands fetch to the seats in face of rush air, I didnt think so...?

All 3 movies suck big time!!!! The best aviation movies I ever saw were Airport, Airport 75, Airport 77, a Thousand Heroes. The movie is about the United 232 crash in Soix City in 1989. I think all 4 movies starred Charalton Heston. i'm certain that Airport 75, 77 as well as Heston played the role of UAL DC-10 Captain Al Haynes. Not sure about Airport.

The only airport movie that really was a *good* movie was the original Airport. 75 and 77 et al were really lame.

I thought the original Airport was pretty well researched. In fact, it inspired me to choose aviation as a career. I sent a letter to Robert Wise, who I believe directed it (back in 1970) and he personally wrote me back thanking me for my comments and he was happy I enjoyed the movie. As a side note, I was also in MSP during the filming of some of the inside scenes, they shot most of them at 3:00am! They had originally wanted to use ORD but the City of Chicago wouldn't let them, but the opening auto parking scenes are from the ORD car lot that stands where the multilevel structure is now. I wonder if the CO bombing back in 1962 was an inspiration for this movie.

Turbulence 3 just sux.
It makes MCI runway looks like if it was about 50000 feets long.
There's a good movie called Ground Control! It's about the FAA flight controlers, nice movie.

Turbulence 3??
Jeepers Creepers! I have seen the first and the second. How many do they plan to make with identicle storylines?
It Stars: Joe Mantegna, Graig Sheffer, Gabrielle Anwar, Rutger Hauer

Director: Jorge Montesi

It (''Turbulence 3'') is about a 747 that is hijacked by a sadistic fan, who randomly starts killing anyone who gets in his way. Proving to be the ultimate white-knuckle flight for the passengers. the aptly numbered Flight 666 continues off course and toward imminent disaster. I predict this to be a box-office flop.

Turbulence 3??? I'd never knew there was an Turbulence 2!! I saw the first Tubulence, and honestly the only good thing about that one was Lauren Holly.  Wink/being sarcastic Guess I'm not missing anything by not watching them. Regards.

In the first Turbulence I felt really bad for the other F/A (the mother from 7th Heaven) when she was killed. She was so innocent and wouldnt harm a fly, but she got killed in the end. The other unrealistic part of the first one is. Why in the hell would an airline fly a 747 for like 4 or 5 passengers?
