I guess a dirty airplane is a profitable airplane. Check out some of these classics, talk about needing a wash down!

Depend on how they look, I sometimes find it quite cool. It is like seeing it been working so hard and didnt have time to be fussy about how it looks.

Yeah, they really look boring when they're not washed properly. But there aren't so many a/c that are dirty, most of them look nice.

More importantly though, the picture that IndianGuy posted is the FIRST and ONLY one of an AI A300 in the database.

Dirty aircraft is one of the reasons why I don't fly a particualr airline ditto for dirty/faded interiors. Delta is full of them especailly with their older L-1011, MD-88, 727, 737 and 767 aircraft.

Both Delta aircraft shown above are NOT dirty......What you are seeing is the natural aluminum fuselage bleeding through the white paint which is "crazed" similar to a cabin window. If you look at them up close, you will see a lot of scratches in the paint.

The MD-88 shown above is wearing it's factory delivered paint (Only the factory painted the word "Delta" under the forward widget), which was delivered to Delta in 1989. The last time I remember them painting an L-1011 was probably in 1994, so 728's paint is at least seven years old. The AI A300 looks to be in the same shape......

Get a life boys......what do they do take an aircraft offline just because it's dirty, think this way "aircraft don't fly = aircraft don't make money"

I am all for cleaning an an aircraft when it is on maintenance but it's not very high on the list of priorities when its in for a big check on Friday and they want it out ASAP.

You won't fly an airline because the a/c may be dirty?!?! Personally, I think that the SAFETY and capability of that airline to get me to my destination in one peice is a little bit more important, than how "pretty" the plane is. Yeah, it's nice to have a clean looking a/c.. but c'mon, that's NO REASON not to fly that airline.

I agree that a dirty airplane isn't the end of the world. But if the majority or a large number of planes in the fleet are dirty, then I would start to wonder how much care the airlines takes of other areas too.

I saw a dirty Delta L-1011 at MCO last week. N733DS was pretty dirty, but I figured it was one of my last times seeing an L10, so I snapped a pic of the bird.

I honestly don't care if the plane dirty on the exterior. I have been on one America West 737 (N166AW) and it was pretty filthy, but it got me to PHX in one piece.
