Edinburgh and maybe another UK destination for definite, possibly NCL or BRS I would think.
Also probably more European destinations.

I doubt that Stockholm will get it because they already have 2 daily flyght to New york American and SAS.
Perhaps Gotenburg (Sweden) could be a candidate.

Continental seems to be the jetBlue of the Transatlantic, serving secondary airports.

I dont think a third Munich-New York flight would do good. LH flies daily MUC-EWR on A340 and DL daily to JFK on 763.

A couple of quick corrections,
First CAL's flight to Stansted is from EWR not JFK.
And Second there's only one flight from the New York area to Stockholm and thats SAS's EWR flight.
American doesn't serve Stockholm from NY,maybe ORD.

Continental is currently embarking on a large international expansion from EWR. KIX and ICN are most likely the next Asian destinations for CO. All of the previously mentioned European cities also may be getting service.

In 2002, when the construction of Terminal E is complete, CO will then have the available space to start an international expansion from IAH. The most likely new destinations will be FRA, FCO, MAD, and AMS (especially if CO and KLM partner up through NWA). I've hears that CO also wants to fly to EZE from IAH, but can't get the rights yet (were given to DL for ATL-EZE). I also wouldn't be surprised if CO launched a flight to KIX from IAH. All of this should be happening by 2004-2005.

Expect a medium to large 777/767 order from CO in the near future to fuel this expansion.

Correction on NYC-ARN flights.

Delta Air Lines serves ARN with daily B767-300ER service from JFK.

Any further international service from CLE planned for the future?

With all these plans, the current outstanding aircraft orders for 767/777 aircraft will not be adequate to replace the remaining DC10s and expand (even if only one-half of the routes mentioned as being considered are put into service). Are we likely to see more orders soon? When the 753s arrive and are put into domestic service (CO said that the 753 would be used for High-Density domestic routes, ie EWR-LAX, EWR-FLL, IAH-LAX), will we see additional 757-200s put into international service from Newark (of course, the 752 does not have the range for IAH-Europe flights), say to additional destination in the UK?

Continental pretty much has the UK and Ireland covered from EWR, with GLA, LHR (via VS), LGW, STN, BHX, MAN, DUB, and SNN all getting service from EWR. I would not be suprised to see service to Barcelona, Munich, Vienna, Dubai, Athens, and somewhere in Scandinavia.

I would like to see CO planes going into geneva for sure and mayby also basel. (basel does serve freiburg/basel/mulhouse) they could surly fly a 757 on this route but if not the surly a 737-800. What about Nice or somewhere around there? Prauge and warsaw would be possible the only compition would be one ageing 767-200 (correct me if i'm wrong) to each that are never filled. do they do madrid? they also need a larger plane into ZRH (say a 767-400 for example it has come once or twice). Have they ever considered flying 737's over the pond. its not much longer to fly ewr-liverpool than it is LAX-EWR!!!

The Powers-That-Be at 1600 Smith St. have made it clear that nothing smaller then the 757 will fly transatlantic in CO colors.

I believe that the 737NG does have ETOPS clearance, several European charter airlines requested it.

Aloha is flying 73G aircraft between California and Hawaii, is that conclusive?

CAL will not send the 737NG across the Atlantic, however it does have ETOPS certification and flies very long routes from Guam to Cairns Australia and the Island hopper from Guam to Honolulu.

Also CAL sent a 737-800 from Guam to Hainan Island to pick up the EP-3 crew being held by the Chinese two weeks ago.

About Lisbon:

CO is playing way to much safe in that market I think.
Tap has two flights a day to NYC. One A340-300 to JFK and an A310 to EWR.

I think they will have and expansion in its European routes from IAH. Ex. ;

IAH - MAD
IAH - ZRH
IAH - FRA
IAH - FCO

And I think they have in mind a major Asian expansion from EWR. Remember they were the first ones to star the NYC-HKG and United follow them.

EWR PEK, EWR-PVG, EWR-KIX maybe ?

I also think CO should come back to Munich again. Lufthansa just needs more competition, they have an easy game out of MUC.
CO could operate a B762 which should be filled, along with PTVs in Economy and the famous CO service. Their EWR hub offers good connections throughout the US, to the Caribbean and Latin America which could help to fill the plane.

With CO on the route I would fly MUC-EWR, but never on LH!

if CO does invest in AN, then it will surely start flying to Australia and New Zealand, if not with its own aircraft, then by codesharing on AN's soon-to-be-launched trans-pacific flights.

Where did this rumour about CO taking an equity position in AN come from?.

Ther is no compliment to their routes, and a relationship would bring UA out of their tree.

I dont think that the yields are there just at the moment for another operator in view of the economic downturn in both countries. Why would CO look at a declining market in the short term?

OO-VEG, seems that the route AMS-EWR runs very well as the B767-200 has arrived sooner than I expected (I thought they were due in June). Anyway, I also hope on a AMS-IAH flight allthough I can recall CO saying that they have "other priorities" (allthough these can change if KL and CO can finally work out the agreement they signed december 1999).

IAH-FAT could be a possibility. AA already flies FAT-DFW, so that is proof that there is a demand, plus, the fact that the terminal expansion is in the second half of the construction, I would not be surprised to see Fresno-Houston in the next five years.
BTW, I have some substance to this claim. I spoke with the spokeswoman for FAT and she said that Houston was a possibility, along with increased frequencies to SEA, DEN, etc.

CO would not have a problem with an IAH-AMS flight. If KLM can fill a 744 on the route, then CO should be able to fill at least a 764 on the flight. If CO and KLM become partners through NWA, then CO will probably need a 777 on the route.

The logic never ceases to amaze. Well if KLM is flying a 744 then CO must be able to fill at 767 400. Uhh?

KLM has a hub in AMS and most pax are transit not going to AMS. Why do you think CO flew a 757 to AMS from EWR. Very little demand.

CO will not fly to AMS from IAH, they will code share with KL.

Plus KL flies a 744 Combi not a full 744 to IAH.

JL: CO will be using the 767-200 (at this moment they still use the 757-200 sometimes) but their route is not that good as you say. They used to fly daily with the DC-10, that did'n't work out so they decided to fly 5x a week and lateron the 757 daily. So this is the first time they are using some larger equipment on the route again.
