SFO-IAD Which Way To Go?

Wed May 02, 2001 12:36 pm

what is the way to go on the sfo to dulles route. I want a morning flight. I know united has a few morning flights do any others offer this flight either non-stop or with a short layover? Can I get a few unbiased opinions on the united 777 and 767 flights?

Why would you want to change planes if you could go non-stop? You're flying hub to hub on the dominate airline at San Francisco and Dulles. Duh? Enjoy United. They do a fine job coast to coast. I've flown both the 767 and the 777....DC 10 and even an Airbus A320 on that route. It's just a flight. Book it and go. Maybe I fly so much that this dilly dallying over which airline to take seems silly. Whatever is quickest, take it.

Well, you only have one choice: United. No other airline offers non-stop (or one-stop) SFO-IAD services. There are eight dailies, all handled by various A320s, 752s, 762s, 772s, and 763s. If you want an early morning flight, one leaves a 6.40, but it's an A320 flight (UA180). If I were you, I would take the 7.55 flight (UA170) on the 763, or even better, flight UA946 on a 772. I personally have never been on a UA 777 or 767 (I almost always take the national carrier when flying international), but from what I hear, they are very nice (what 777 isn't)? If you get an international 767 (quite likely). If you want to make a connection (which, for an airplane spotter, can be fun), there are plenty. USAir via PIT, AA via DFW or LAX (either which would be ridiculous, although LAX is great for spotting!), DL via SLC or ATL (another ridiculous connection!), CO via MSP, and UA via DEN, PHL and ORD. All in all, my suggestion is UA946, the early morning, non-stop 772 flight. You'll enjoy it.

I was just wondering if it was possible to get some more AC's in. I want toi fly on a delta 764 for example.
Come on I have heard a few bad things about UA but it can't be as bad as UA+LH=BAD says it is.

The option through MSP would be on NW not CO.

NW offers A320, 757, DC10s to MSP or DTW then DC9s or A320 (1xMSP only) on to IAD.
