I've been reading in this discussion form a little while ago that Cathay Pacific didn't like the Boeing 777-200.Why is that? Confused

I remember reading a while back in some mag (amazing what you find out when you read things) that the problem with the 772's was there size/seating capacity. They were configured with more seats than the 330's but less than the 747's and they just weren't sure what routes to use them on.
They were basically odd balls in the fleet until they worked out what routes were best for them, they must have done this as they have since taken the number 1 777 as an extra aircraft.

I did not read/hear that CX does not the 772, I think that they prefer the 773 due to its extra seating capacity. CX needs a lot of capacity on many of its short to medium range regional routes out of Hong Kong, so the extra seating on the 773 is attractive to them.

If they don't like it, why would they buy Boeing's first B777 last year? The A333 and the B772 are very similar aircraft. During the few years when the economy in Asia was really bad, they thought about selling the B772s because it was a smaller fleet. It wasn't because CX didn't like the B772.

Well, whether they like the B772 or not.... i feel that they are not doing correct positioning to their B777.
If i m not wrong, the B777 has the least in-flight features..... dunno larz. watever. hope they bring up the position of their B777.......

Cathay only bought the 777 #1 because it is a quick and easy way to boost capacity in a short period of time.
