Qatar Airways To Inaugurate Doha-Kuala Lumpur

Sat May 05, 2001 3:25 am

Qatar airways had just announced that they will inaugurate Doha - Kuala Lumpur route in December 17, 2001. They will have 3 flights weekly using A300, operating nonstop. Schedules as follows:

DOH - KUL; Monday, Wednesday, Friday
7:45 pm - 7:45 +1 am; QR 620

KUL - DOH; Wednesday, Friday, Sunday
2:00 am - 5:15 am; QR 621

Anybody knows why the long stopover in KUL? (more than 18 hours) Are they connecting KUL with any other destinations? And why are they flying out of KUL in such an ungodly hour?

Cheers.

Actually, the Malaysian Government should have done something about its Brand New Airport by promoting it more. That is.......... push it harder to make it competitive so that more airlines will fly to KUL. Like UAL

I think some of your answers are answered in the post in Should UAL fly to KUL.

However, the Malaysian government did push it hard. Now they are waiving landing fees and parking fees for passenger airlines with at least 25% load factor, at least 4 weekly flights into KUL. Anyway, the landing fees in KUL is very cheap only! So, I think landing fees is not an issuie for an airline not to fly into KUL. It is the passengers and perhaps to a little extent cargo.

I agree to you that UAL should fly into KUL, read your post for further comments. Thanx.

Cheers.
