Seating And Safety

Sun May 06, 2001 4:24 pm

I was thinking about this after a trip I took this summer. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to rude. However, while flying CLE to ALB via PHL on US Airways I had seat 21F, the window. Near the end of the boarding process a young woman and two elderly people boarded. The two elderly people were seated in 21D and 21E. They both needed help down the aisle and needed help sitting down and one needed help fastening their seatbelts. I was thinking at that time about the event of an emergency evacuation. If one was necessary these two people would not be able to get up and out of the plane themselves. This is troubling enough. Then the thought crossed my mind that I would be trapped by these two people. Now I realize that in a true emergency if I needed to get off the plane I would find a way around them. I was just thinking if anyone else has experienced this and wondered the same thing?
